Information Systems and E-Learning Services (ISeLS)

Our goal is to support the University’s learning teaching and research activities with efficient and effective computer and communications services.

The transformation of ICT provision achieved to date, as demonstrated by recent independent surveys, liaison group meetings and collaborative initiatives are evidence of a successful response to student requirements in an IT environment.
This has involved wide-ranging changes in individual roles, in the ethos and direction of the service and in working patterns to a more student orientated service.

ISeLS provides the following services to the University:

  • Student computer labs across the campuses.
  • Development and support of the University voice and data networks
    • Access to the internet and associated security protections against viruses etc.
    • Manage all University systems accounts and passwords.
    • All e-mail services, including off-campus access.
    • Management and development of the University’s e-learning environmentPrinting services for students (PHAROS)
    • Assistance with the purchasing of computer hardware and software.
    • Development of the Glamorgan internal and external websites in partnership with Marketing.
    • Evaluation of the latest technologies for use in the University.

The University houses nearly 1600 PC’s and Apple Mac’s on campus or available to students via modern “Cluster based” ICT facilities. Our cluster laboratories are equipped with a range of computers running up to date operating systems, applications and bespoke software. Additionally specialist software is also available to enable us to support students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
