I’m Dan Bows and this year I’m the President of the Students’ Union. It’s time for me to pass on 6 years of experiences here to you in order to make sure your time is fantastic.
The Union is for you the students so it’s important that we discuss the issues which are affecting you so that your experience here is great!

My role this year involves representing students at the higher levels within the University and this involves sitting on Board of Governors, Academic Board, Estates strategy and of course the Student Experience Committee.

This year I hope to achieve:

• Enhance the Unions as a support and representative body
• Increase participation in Union activities
• Ensure the University provide effective communication and feedback to the students
• Reinforce and further enhance the presence the Union has on all campuses
• Continue to campaign and lobby in order to extend and defend the rights of students on all levels.
Having settled into our brand spanking new building and with a good team behind you, 2011/12 will prove to be an epic year.

All that’s left for me now is to say, Welcome to Glamorgan!
Make sure you keep it real and get involved in the Union so we can make sure this year is quality!!

Hello Glamorgan, My name is Jasper and I am your new Vice President Student Support for this year.

I have had a fantastic time here at Glamorgan and am unbelievably going into my 7th year here! During your time at University you will make loads of new friends and have many great experiences; however it is not always an easy ride!

My job is to help support any student that is experiencing any concerns or troubles and to give them advise and an opportunity to talk about it in a safe, comfortable and confidential environment. You can come to me with any problems you may be facing and I will try to
help you through them or to point you in the correct direction to someone who can. You can come to me for support with Finance, Health issues, Accommodation problems, Issues with Education, Representation, liberation and anything else you are worried about. I am based in the Students Union in Treforest but will also be visiting all of our campuses throughout the year. I am always ready to meet new people and i look forward to meeting you all next year! - Jasper

• Increase volunteering and fundraising within the union.
• Increase student participation in sports, clubs and societies so that you the students get the student experience.

We have an exciting year ahead together – come to fresher’s fayre on Friday 23rd September and sign up for sports, clubs and societies.

Hi there!!
My name is James Koash, and I'm the Chair of Student Council at the University of Glamorgan.

My role involves ensuring that ALL students are fully represented within the Student Council structure. We have 16 different committees, each representing a different group of students. For example, we have everything from a women's committee to an international student's committee. We also have a committee that represents each of the campuses. Regardless of whether you study at Treforest, Glyntaff, ATRiuM or Cromwell House, you are entitled to make your voice heard through the Student Council structure.

We'll be running drop-in sessions throughout the year. Alternatively, you can send an e-mail with any queries you might have. My e-mail address is sucosc@glam.ac.uk. Student Council members are there to take forward any issues
you may encounter during your time at Glamorgan. Whether you are a first year student starting at Glamorgan this September, or a third year student knuckling down to do your dissertation..
