Matthew Phythian

Matthew Phythian is the University of Glamorgan 1st team Captain and had been selected to represent the British Universities Golf team in a match against Midland Counties at Blackwell Golf Club on Sunday April 18th 2010.

Matthew has already represented the University in the BUCS league competition this season winning 4 of his 5 matches and has also played in numerous individual events. Matthew missed out on the Order of Merit title however he will be playing in the final of the individual championships at Dundonald Golf Club (Scotland) in April. Being picked to represent the British Universities Team is a big accomplishment for Matthew, and a fitting way to finish the season having improved his handicap from 0.4 to +0.4

Matthew commented ‘I have had a great season personally. The R&A Bursary combined with my Sports Centre Scholarship has helped me massively and hopefully I can play well at St. Andrews in the R&A championships and the individual final.’
