

As President the successful Candidate will become a Governor of the University. The Prime responsibility of being a governor in representing all University Students is to ensure attendance at all meetings which consist of :-Board of Governor meetings, Academic Board, Conferment Committee, Student Affairs and Health & Safety.
The Duties of the President within the SU include the day to day running of the business as whole, with Commercial Services being the prime department. The President also oversees Health & Safety, Staffing and Finance.
Additional key duties of the President is to attend meetings within the University which range from Student Expectation Groups to Infringement Committees and act as evening Duty Trustee regularly.
Attendance at AGM and Union council is mandatory as it the production and presentation of reports relaying work undertaken to which questions may be received at these meetings.

The Union Secretary has the main responsibility for the organisation of the Union Democracy activities which include AGM, Union Council and recruiting Union Councillors.
In addition the Union secretary responsibilities include acting as Deputy President and overseeing the day to day running of the Student Union in the absence of the President.
The Secretary also has overall responsibility for the newspaper Leek and the Union website.
The successful Candidate will also be expected to represent Students interests on a number of University Committees and support the work of elected Officers and act as evening Duty Trustee on a regular basis.

The responsibilities of the Education Officer is to represent and support Students with any academic issue they may have i.e. mitigating circumstances, academic appeals, infringement, course quality and any others that may arise.
It is also a key responsibility of the Education Officer to represent Students at Academic Board which occurs four times a year, in order to relay Student Issues to the University.
There is also a need for the Education Officer to work closely with the student course Representatives Coordinator in order to take forward to relevant University Committees issues raised by Students.
In addition the successful Candidate will be required to serve on a number of University Committees representing the views of Students.
The Education Officer will support the work of all elected Officers in particular based at Glyntaff, Merthyr Tydifil and Cardiff Atrium and act as evening Duty Trustee on a regular basis.

The Welfare Officer supports welfare issues for Students which include health, finance and housing. The post holder is responsible for producing a range of support literature, organising information events and oversees the development of the nightline service.

In addition the successful candidate will be expected to represent Students on a number of University Committees, support the work of elected officers and Staff within the Union, and act as evening Duty Trustee regularly.

The Women & Equal Opps Officer is responsible for the equality issues and various liberation campaigns within the Union which include LGBT, Students with disabilities and international Students.
The Women & Equal Opps Officer is also expected to organise fund raising & educational events.
In addition the successful Candidate will be required to serve on a number of Union and University Committees representing the views of Students.
The Women & Equal Opps Officer will support the work of elected Officers in general but particularly the following Non Sabbatical Officers – International Students, Racial & Equality issues, Students with Disabilities, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transsexual Students and act as evening duty Trustee on a regular basis.
Attendance at Union Council and Annual General Meeting is a requirement as is the production and presentation of reports relaying work undertaken to which questions may be received at these meetings.

The prime responsibility of the SAO to oversees the activities of all sports teams, clubs and societies. The SAO also oversees Rag and works closely with the Rag Chair, a further key responsibility for the SAO is to help design and purchase kit for all the sports teams.
The SAO will be expected to represent Students on University Committees, attend national conferences on behalf of the Union and act as evening Duty Trustee regularly.

RAG Chairperson
As RAG (Raising And Giving) Chairperson, you will the face of RAG, encouraging as many people to get involved as possible. You will work alongside the Student Activities Officer to organise events and activities for students and staff to get involved with all in the name of charity.
LEEK Editor + 2 Assistant Editors
Leek the Students' Union newspaper has an initial team of three students who organise the production and editing of the newspaper. If you are a budding journalist, designer or photographer maybe you are the right person for the job. It does take time and commitment, but it is worth it.
All part-time officers are voluntary positions where you can effectively give as much time as you want. The only commitment we require from you is to sit on Union Council five times in the year and meet with the other elected officers twice a term.

Working alongside both the Education Officer and Course Reps Co-ordinator, you will liaise with the course reps, help out with the training and generally feedback to the Students' Union on common re-occuring problems.

Working alongside Women & Equal Opps Officer, you will be the voice for International Students and any issues that are concerning them. It may be appropriate to hold events or run campaigns in association with different societies.

Working alongside Women & Equal Opps Officer, you will liaise with the Students Union on Racial Equality Issues that concern students. It may be appropriate to hold events or run campaigns in association with different societies.
Non-Sabbatical Glyntaff-Position Filled
Working alongside the Education Officer and at times the Union Secretary, you will be the voice for Glyntaff campus. If there are problems, the Students' Union needs to know in order for them to campaign, whether the problems are academic, welfare or social. It is hoped to find someone who is happy to talk to people from a range of courses, not just there own. Glyntaff is constantly changing, the Union needs feedback on both the good and bad changes.

Working alongside the Education Officer and at times the Union Secretary, you will be the voice for Merthyr campus. If there are problems, the Students' Union needs to know in order for them to campaign for change. It is hoped to find someone who is happy to talk to people from a range of courses, not just there own. Campaigns might be run, such as the current petition for fairer parking costs for students. You will sit on the Merthyr Tydfil Representatives Group to discuss with the Union any problems.

Working alongside Women & Equal Opps Officer and at times Student Activities Officer, you will liaise with Students both at Glamorgan and nationally through conference to get an insight into what issues effect Students with Disabilities. It will be appropriate at times to run campaigns and events, such as raising money for a brailer or a Sports For All campaign.
Position Filled
Working alongside Women & Equal Opps Officer, you will liaise with Students both at Glamorgan and nationally during conferences to gain further insight into what issues effect LGBT Students. It will be appropriate at times to run campaigns and events, to raise awareness, such as LGBT Blood Campaign.
Working alongside the Education Officer and at times the Union Secretary, you will be the voice for Cardiff campus. If there are problems the Students' Union needs to know about it, whether they are academic, welfare or social-we want to help improve the experience. It is hoped to find someone who is willing to talk to people from all courses within the faculty to find out what issues are affecting students. You will sit on the Cardiff Representatives Group to discuss with the Union any problems.

Working alongside the Welfare Officer, you will liaise with fellow students in Halls and try to encourage them to become Hall reps. Feedback from the students themselves is key to making improvements to the accomodation standards on campus. It may be appropriate to run campaigns, such as Student Housing and Student Safety.
