Personal Development Through Representation ED1U11

This module has been designed to recognise the personal development that takes place when students act as representatives for their course. There are two assessments, both of which must be passed in order to pass the module overall. The module is validated for 5 credits at Level 1, but can be taken by representatives in any year of their studies.

Assessment One

You are required to provide evidence of the extent of your role over the period of time you have been a Course Rep. It is necessary to provide a range of evidence in order to satisfy this element of the assessment. This could include:

If you are unsure about this you can contact the people below.

Assessment Two

You are required to produce a 1500 word SWOT analysis of your rolw, demonstrating the challenges the role presented and how you have overcome those challenges successfully. If you include specific cases where you have helped a students, please make sure you anonymise all the names associated with the case.

You should present your SWOT analysis as a reflective essay, detailing your personal Strengths and Weaknesses and showing how you use these qualities effectively, particularly how you overcame any weaknesses that you identify. You should then identify the Opportunities that the role presented you with to practice (and therefore develop) those skills. Finally you should give examples of any Threats to the development of those skills.

Assessment Deadline

In order to accomodate students who only hold the role for a term, there are two assessment points. Please make sure you submit both assessments on the date you chose. Submission dates are either 26th January 2008 or 25 April 2008. Assessments should be handed in at the Forest Hall Student Enquiry Centre / Advice Shop on the ground floor of Forest Hall on the main campus (Treforest).
