Faculty Board Meetings

Who goes to Faculty Board?

 The University sets out who attends various committees, meetings and boards. Faculty Board is made up of the following:

Usually at the first Faculty Board meeting of the year, the Chairperson will encourage each member to introduce themselves. 

Which Course Reps go to Faculty Board?

Rachel will contact all Course Reps in the Autumn term to discuss this.

What does Faculty Board do?

The University sets out what Faculty Boards should do. So, in the University's words:

Terms of reference
1.      Provide a forum for de elegated to it by Academic Board.
2.      Offer advice to the Vice Chancellor and Dean regarding matters for which they have executive responsibility, including advice on the resources needed to support the academic activities of the faculty.
3.      Monitor, review and promote the development of the academic activities of the faculty, and to consider reports from the Dean and others on those academic activities.
4.      Assist the Academic Board in monitoring the Dean's discharge of her/his accountability for academic policies.
5.      Liaise with the other committees of Academic Board and, where appropriate, appoint members to serve on those committees.
6.      Receive the minutes of the faculty quality assurance committees and consider any matters referred to the Board by those committees.
7.      Delegate powers to sub-committees as appropriate, within a framework agreed by Academic Board.
8.      Consider any matters referred to it by Academic Board, other faculty boards, the Vice Chancellor or the Dean.
9.      Receive the minutes of all of the minutes of the assessment boards and committees established to consider student views and academic development.
