Friday 25th May 2007 saw the first Course Reps Awards Presentation. The event was held in Shafts in the Students' Union, and was organised to recognise and reward Glamorgan's Course Reps for all their hard work over the academic year 2006/7.
Jamal Teer, 3rd year Management & Business Course Rep won the 'Course Rep of the Year' award after showing committment, passion and enthusiasm for the role. Jamal not only contributed many hours of his time to University meetings, but also attended a conference entitled 'The Extent and Effectiveness of Student Representation Structures at Higher Education Institutions across Wales'. Jamal also completed the Course Reps mini-module where he was able to articulate the skills and competences he developed through the year. Jamal's Scheme Leader said: "In addition to committing himself to his final year of studies, Jamal has been proactive in all aspects of being a student representative. He has attended all Scheme Boards and has also been active on behalf of his fellow students outside these. He is never afraid to speak his mind and is very tenacious in ensuring he gets a response to his queries. However he does all this with a smile on his face and I believe it is him overall demeanor that is his main asset when dealing with people, be they fellow students or staff".
