The UGU Constitution is the most important document; governing the activities of the Students' Union, it's officers, members and staff. It is a set of rules, regulations and rights which have evolved as a result of decisions taken at AGM and Union Council over the years. The Union is required through the 1994 Education Act to have a written Constitution that has been approved by the University Board of Governors, and must be reviewed at least every five years. Our last major review was in 2004/2005.
It is a legal and binding document, but more importantly it provides a guide by which you as a student may make decisions and take action in defence of your interests. Alongside this document are other working policies and codes of practice, such as the Equal Opportunities Policy and the Code of Confidentiality Policy, which regularly get updated to ensure the Union is working for it's members.

If you would prefer a printed copy of the Constitution then just pop into the Students' Union and ask at reception.
