Positive Body Image Campaign

Glamorgan Women's Group have been focusing their attention on Positive Body Image and the effects of the media/society's ideals on young womens body image and self esteem.

Following London Fashion Show's shocking announcement that they would not follow Milan and Madrid in banning size zero and unhealthy models, Glam Girls (Glamorgan's Womens Liberation Society)has started a petition aimed at the organisers, designers and funding organisations involved to ban size zero models on the catwalk.

Too many young girls and women who daily face images and ideals of the 'perfect body', which many often feel under pressure to conform to, leading to low self esteem, and in some cases eating disorders and self injury. Many look to the world of fashion for inspiration and role models, when laid bare they find oppressed models struggling to stay unhealthily thin and achieve the size zero ideal.
