Leek is the University of Glamorgan's only official student newspaper; written by students, for students. It is a supported student activity which receives financial help from the Students Union but primarily it is funded by advertising. An elected non-sabbatical editor and two elected non-sabbatical assistant editors are in charge of putting the newspaper together and they are helped by a team of volunteers.
If you're interested in contributing to Leek, there are many ways in which you can help. We require news reporters, photographers, feature writers, artists, sports reporters, arts and entertainments reviewers and more. Contributing to the student newspaper will help gain you valuable experience and will look good on your CV, and if you're interested in doing reviews, you can get free gig tickets, CDs and more.
If any of that grabs you, contact us anytime by emailing leek1@glam.ac.uk or popping into the Leek office between Monday and Friday (if we're there, ask in the SU reception first).
The editor for 2007/08 is Owain Peace. The two assistant editors are Gareth Jones and Daniel Grosvenor.
The next issue of Leek will be out in the Autumn.
We are currently in the process of digitising all the back issues of Leek that we have from 1976 to the present. This is a big project however, and as Leek is run by a small team of volunteers, it may take some time, so please be patient. To see all the issues that are currently digitised and available online, click on the 'Back Issues' link.
