Tongue Swap is FREE and gives students the opportunity to be paired up with another students who speak a language they would like to learn or practice.

WHY TAKE PART?

Home students will have a chance to learn a new language or practice existing language skills, maintain links to the international environment they experienced on their Erasmus / gap years and make new friends from all over the world. This is important in an increasingly globalised world where employers look for linguistic ability and appreciation of other cultures.

International and EU students taking part will get to know home students, great not only to practise English but also to help them learn their way around and integrate into the university community.

All participants will receive an official certificate for their participation (on the condition that they meet at least once every two weeks with their Tongue Swap buddy). This will add to your CV and demonstrate your language skills and cultural awareness.

In addition, you can use this event to get your Glam Edge Certificate!! Bring your "Passport to Employability" along and you can use our event as part of Stage 1 of the programme. If you haven't got one, you can still get it from your faculty.
 

HOW IT WORKS:

Each student will be paired with one other student to exchange languages they’ve identified. We will endeavour to pair everyone who has registered, but cannot guarantee everyone a match. We will also try to match people based on their respective campuses and of similar age.

Complete this form and come to the free ‘Tongue Swap’ night on FRIDAY OCTOBER 12 at Cables in the Students’ Union building in Treforest, to meet your language buddy. You can also sign up on the night!

Come along! It will be an awesome fun night with games and will nibbles!
